Wart Removal

Unsightly and a source of embarrassment for some, the presence of warts is a very common reason that patients come to us. Though benign, they can still make you feel uncomfortable about your skin and its appearance. Caused by the human papillomavirus (better known as HPV), warts can be treated in a number of ways. While there are many over-the-counter methods, often the best and most efficient way is to have a dermatology provider address your wart issue. We can help you get rid of the warts and restore your skin back to normal.

Types of Wart Removal Treatment

We highly recommend you come in for a consultation with one of our board-certified dermatology providers. During your appointment, we can discuss the best course of action for your specific condition. One of the most widely used treatment options: cryotherapy, involves freezing the wart off with liquid nitrogen. Virtually painless and very fast, the process lasts only a few minutes and there is no risk of scarring. Other such treatment options include Cantharidin which essentially causes the skin underneath the wart to blister, thereby “lifting” the wart off.

Are There Topical Wart Treatments?

Topical medications can be used to address your wart problem. Best when administered by a dermatology provider, these creams serve to disrupt the skin cell growth of the wart and ultimately destroy it. Simply picking one of these creams up at a drugstore is not advised when it comes to the most effective types of wart treatment. They need to be applied in the correct way, by a licensed practitioner experienced when it comes to wart removal methods.

Are Plantar’s Warts the Same as Other Types of Warts?

More painful than some warts, Plantar’s warts are located on the bottom of the foot. Treating these types of warts can be a bit more challenging; that is why it is so important to see a dermatologist about your Plantar’s warts rather than trying any type of at-home treatment. We would be happy to set up an appointment and help you get rid of those uncomfortable Plantar’s warts.
